The Beacon Butcher Bar is a labor of love from Tina Houston, owner of Reid’s Café & Catering Co. which has been established here in the High Country since 1999. The Beacon Butcher Bar is located in the heart of Boone, NC adjacent to the iconic Water Wheel. Just as we value beautiful ingredients in our catering, The Beacon procures the highest quality ingredients for their seasonal menus. We value the handmade and fashion from scratch details as small as the aioli and dressings we use, to homemade cast iron cornbread and pastries, locally butchered meats, and naturally fermented pickles. We avoid industrially grown and processed foods. We love the intentional, the specific, the well-cared-for.

About our food

At The Beacon Butcher Bar, we serve regional seafood, farm goods from our local friends, amazing coffee from Bald Guy Roasting of Blowing Rock, as well as loose leaf teas and tisane from the Tea + Spice Exchange in Blowing Rock, with rustic handmade Italian pastries. We have all the things you need for dinner by Chef Trey Templeton; elegant salads, Neapolitan rustic pizzas, handmade pasta, grilled whole fish.  From the bar, we emphasize natural wines, sustainable, traditional, and with minimum chemical additives which compliment the Chefs’ choice of cured meats, cheeses and hand crafted cocktails.  We serve all these delicious things Wednesday through Saturday starting at 5:00pm.

The Beacon Butcher Bar features re-purposed barn wood, local river stone, white concrete tabletops from BDWG, succulent greenery by Callista Flower Co. Colors are of dark sea and cloud, forest, stone, sky, and sunset. The vivacious heart of the restaurant resides in Jerry Cantwell’s paintings — exemplary compositions with colorways that resound and subject matter that is uncannily, but joyously soothing.
